Computer science is not about machines, in the same way that astronomy is not about telescopes. There is an essential unity of mathematics and computer science -- Mike Fellows (often attributed to Dijkstra, but first published by Fellows in 1991 in "Computer SCIENCE and Mathematics in the Elementary Schools")

Starfish Medical Tour!
Wow. Thursday was truly awesome! Dean Addison, of Starfish Medical, took us on a tour of their facilities. The kids got to see all kinds of cool and amazing technology.
What an incredible experience for these kids, (and us!). I'm sure we'll never forget it.

cryptarithmetic
How come I've never heard of this before???
You make a arithmetic problem out of letters which have associated number values, and make a cool phrase like this. You can try to decipher this one:
SEND+MORE=MONEY
or put this way
SEND
+MORE
-----
MONEY
so, since the letters are all digits from 0-9, and we know that S + M creates a carry, that carry (M) must be 1. You can use logic and modular arithmetic to derive the values for the remainder of the letters. Cool...
