Sarah Carruthers

Computer science is not about machines, in the same way that astronomy is not about telescopes. There is an essential unity of mathematics and computer science -- Mike Fellows (often attributed to Dijkstra, but first published by Fellows in 1991 in "Computer SCIENCE and Mathematics in the Elementary Schools")

About Me

Sarah Carruthers
I am currently instructing computer science courses at Thompson Rivers University (Online delivery), and Vancouver Island University (On campus). I completed an interdisciplinary PhD in which I studied Human Problem Solving of hard computational problems. My focus was on the intersection between complexity theory and cognitive psychology. I am also interested in, and dedicated to, promoting computer science education, especially with underrepresented groups: children, women, and individuals in rural communities.
